Manchester United fans have voted that 10 players should leave the club in January.
After another humbling defeat to great rivals — this time 2-0 to Manchester City — United’s turgid run of form stretched to just two wins in their last seven Premier League matches.
With Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s job still hanging in the balance, the January transfer window could be a saving grace in which he freshens up his squad by bringing in some new recruits, or moves on some players who have become surplus to requirements.
United have a bulging squad, with some players hardly getting a kick this season, and fans have named a list of 10 who should be shown the door in the new year.
MEN Sport asked readers to take part in a poll in which they could vote on which players should be kept and which ones sold, with a percentage rating given on how many fans believe a player should be kept.
At the bottom of the pile with just 7.5 per cent of voters believing he should remain at Old Trafford is centre-back Phil Jones, who hasn’t played for the first team in nearly two years after a horrid injury battle.
Next on the list is midfielder Andreas Pereira, who is currently on loan at Flamengo, but he is perhaps surprisingly followed by Paul Pogba, with just 17.5 per cent of fans wanting him to stay.
The Frenchman is out of contract in the summer, free to begin negotiating with clubs outside of England from January 1, is in a poor run of form and has just picked up an injury on international duty. With those factors in mind, supporters appear to believe January would be a good time to cash in on Pogba.
The midfielder’s international teammate Anthony Martial, who hasn’t played since October due to his own injury picked up with France, is next on 20 per cent. He’s followed by Juan Mata, who has not played a single minute this season after agreeing a new one year deal, with 23.7 per cent.
Defensive midfield duo Fred (26.4%) and Nemanja Matic (39.9%) come up next, with Tahith Chong (44.7%) and Lee Grant (49.5%) almost among those fans believe should be sold.
Just missing out on the threshold on fans wanting him to stay is Jesse Lingard, with 50.2 per cent of fans believing the forward should be sold, though that vote is narrowly split with plenty of fans believing he should stay and be given more opportunities in Solskjaer’s side.
