Man United have eyes on Ivan Toney as a potential option in the striker position.

Manchester United have to find some help at the striker position this summer. Erik ten Hag is staying so the club can now go on the transfer offensive and look to secure some of the Dutchman’s targets.

Several names have been linked with filling the void. We covered the latest on a potential Joshua Zirkzee move just yesterday.

Zirkzee gets another mentioned in a United transfer article from ESPN, though we’d like to focus in on reported interest in Ivan Toney.

According to their information, United are eyeing a move for the 28-year-old Premier League striker. The Reds’ interest stems from the fact that Toney has a winding down contract. His current Brentford deal expires at the end of the coming season, meaning he could be available in a cut-price deal.

Well, The Bees are still demanding in excess of £50m to let the Englishman, who is currently away at the European Championships, leave.

ESPN claim that striker is among the top priorities, with Jonathan David and Brian Brobbey also on the list of potential options.

The lure with Toney is the fact that he has Premier League experience and has scored goals aplenty in this league.

I’ll be honest, I wasn’t that impressed with Toney upon his return from suspension. Perhaps he’s a little rusty after so long out. Who knows?

I also have questions about his attitude. The way he’s treated Brentford, who have backed him all the way, feels a little harsh. I’m honestly not sure having someone like him in the squad would be good for morale – particularly if he isn’t starting games regularly.

Do you think a Man United move to sign Ivan Toney would make sense? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
