Man United are set to stop Mason Greenwood from heading off on pre-season tour this summer, assuming he’s still at the club.

Manchester United Football Club have had many off-field decisions to deal with over the last eighteen months or so. From the Antony accusations, to the Cristiano Ronaldo saga, with the Mason Greenwood issues sandwiched in the middle…

Erik ten Hag certainly hasn’t had it easy since taking charge at the Theatre of Dreams. With INEOS now in charge, there have been whispers suggesting that Greenwood may be given another chance here in Manchester. Obviously, that’s an extremely touchy subject at this moment in time.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe will likely weigh up the situation before making a decision, while we know from what has been said in the past that Ten Hag would be open to the idea.

However, according to the Daily Star, United are ‘expected to block’ the 22-year-old’s pre-season tour participation this coming summer.

This would be the clearest indication yet that United could look to cash in on Greenwood this coming summer, with the forward currently plying his trade away on loan at Getafe.

United hold concerns about the impact Greenwood’s inclusion could have on the rest of the squad, while it could also turn off some sponsors, given the nature of the situation that unfolded a couple of years ago.

Greenwood’s current deal expires in 2025, with those terms quickly running out. You’d imagine that this summer is likely the last chance the club will have to sell the Englishman for a semi-decent transfer fee. However, potential buying sides will know this, hence, low-ball offers will likely be made.

I still think it’s best to let Greenwood go and keep him away from the squad and club. There’s no room for error at this stage, with United looking to put this saga behind them and hopefully, starting to move in a positive direction again.

Do you think there’s any way that Mason Greenwood will remain a Man United player? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
