Man United defender returns to first-team training ahead of Liverpool game, has been out since January

Aaron Wan-Bissaka is the second Man United player to make his return to first-team training today, ahead of a huge Liverpool game.

Manchester United Football Club have been decimated by injuries all season long. It hasn’t helped Erik ten Hag’s already tough task.

Earlier today, Mason Mount was pictured out there on the training field, with the Englishman making his comeback after four months out injured. No doubt it’ll take the ex-Chelsea player some time to get up to speed, though it’s good to have him back.

Then, this afternoon, the official club website confirmed that a United defender has also made his return to first-team training ahead of the Liverpool game; Aaron Wan-Bissaka. ‘The Spider’ had been out since January, though it’s huge to have him back out there on the training pitch.

It’s unclear whether Wan-Bissaka will be ready to play a part against Liverpool on Sunday in the FA Cup, though after the best part of two months out, you’d imagine this game likely comes a little too soon.

This return is timely. The only fit full-back United had before this news was Diogo Dalot. Wan-Bissaka can now play in the right-back position, allowing his Portuguese teammate to switch over to the left-hand side of defence. After the international break, that should mean no more Sofyan Amrabat or Victor Lindelof out of position.

Wan-Bissaka was improving nicely under Ten Hag before this latest injury blow, so I’m intrigued to see if the ex-Crystal Palace man can pick up where he left off. I’d like to think he’ll be back to his best after getting a couple of games under his belt, purely for fitness purposes.

Do you think Aaron Wan-Bissaka has any shot at starting against Liverpool? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
