Man United have been dealt an injury blow, with Christian Eriksen set to be out until April/May with an ankle problem.

Manchester United progressed into the FA Cup fifth round over the weekend, though it wasn’t all smooth sailing. Reading put up a decent fight, though in the end, the Reds’ superior quality shone through.

There was one casualty on the night, with Christian Eriksen going down with an injury. He’d be seen on crutches leaving the ground, with United fearing the worst.

Well sadly, our fears have been confirmed, with Eriksen set to be sidelined for a prolonged period.

The club revealed the injury blow, with the important midfielder set to be out for multiple months with an ankle injury. Eriksen will be sidelined until late-April/early-May, all-but ending the Dane’s season.

This one is on the referee from the Reading game. Time and time again, Andy Carroll went in with some shocking tackles, with those going unpunished until relatively late on in the game. Now, Eriksen’s debut season at Old Trafford has been cut short.

Although he could be back in training at some time in April, by that point, there’s not enough time in the season left after you’ve rehabbed and got yourself back to full match fitness.

As a result, United are making moves to bring in Marcel Sabitzer from Bayern Munich on a loan deal. He’s definitely an adequate replacement for our Dane, though Eriksen will be sorely missed.

Hopefully, there are no setbacks suffered by the ex-Spurs man, who has certainly made a positive impression on the Old Trafford Faithful over the first six months of his United career.

Get well soon, Christian! We’re all behind you.
