Man United have revived their interest in Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku, according to reports.

The Red Devils first considered recruiting the France international last summer before making another enquiry in January.

However, Chelsea insider Simon Phillips claims that Ruben Amorim’s side have made a fresh approach for Nkunku.

Writing on his Substack, he revealed that contact was made “over the weekend” as United contemplate making a formal offer.

Man United already know how much it will cost to sign Nkunku

It was reported by The Athletic earlier this month that Chelsea have reduced their valuation for the 27-year-old by as much as £22m.

In January, the Blues were holding out for around £65m to sell Nkunku, but they are now willing to part ways for approximately €50m (£43m).

Even at that price, the Red Devils may still be hesitant about making a move for the attacking midfielder, with the club restricted in what they can do in terms of PSR, but there is an alternative avenue that could be explored.

Garnacho may be involved in talks

Phillips suggests a “swap deal” involving Alejandro Garnacho could well be considered. United have been trying to get rid of the Argentinian international all summer.

He has been training away from the first team as part of the so-called ‘bomb squad’, along with the likes of Antony, Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia.

However, Chelsea do hold a longstanding interest in Garnacho, and while they do not want to match United’s asking price, they may be open to an exchange that would benefit both teams. So far, formal negotiations have not taken place but it appears United are very keen on snapping up Nkunku.
