Man United ‘considering’ cut-price ‘transfer swoop’ to sign left-back, could be available for £8m: report

Man United could look to sign Atletico Madrid left-back, Reinildo Mandava, in a cut-price deal this summer.

It’s expected that money may well be tight for Manchester United Football Club this summer. The Red Devils may have to delve deep into the bargain basement, purely to meet FFP and Premier League Profit & Sustainability rules.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS are no doubt hoping to help turn the Reds’ fortunes around. It starts with clearing the decks, freeing up some wage space and replacing them with genuine quality. United have always excelled when it comes to signing lesser-known players, rather than splashing the cash on the bigger names.

That’s exactly where Reinildo Mandava comes into play. The left-back, who currently plies his trade for Atletico Madrid, is being eyed by United.

It’s The Sun with the report, who state that United are ‘considering’ a cut-price ‘transfer swoop’ to sign the left-back. However, they’ll face a fight from Aston Villa to sign Reinildo.

With just one year left on his contract, the 30-year-old could cost as little as £8million.

Reinildo moved to Atletico in 2022, though last November, he suffered a cruciate ligament tear, which ruled him out for six months and derailed his Atleti career in the process.

The left-back is now looking for an escape route, with United and Villa expected to give him the opportunity to get positive momentum back on side.

United need someone reliable in the left-back position. Tyrell Malacia hasn’t played once this season. Luke Shaw will always pick up injuries. Reinildo could come in and fill that void.

He’d also become the first man from Mozambique to play in the Premier League, which would be a nice bit of history.

I am all for making this deal happen. It feels like potentially good business.

Do you think a Man United move to sign Reinildo would make sense? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
