Man United ‘confident’ of being able to make 48yo their new manager: report

Man United firmly believe they can make Brendan Rodgers their new manager.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s job is seriously under threat. Manchester United Football Club could be looking to move in a different direction sooner rather than later.

I’ll be honest, I assumed Solskjaer would already have been sacked by now. To their credit, it looks like the club aren’t rushing into any decisions, ensuring the right man can be hired to replace the Baby Faced Assassin.

Well, it looks like the man they’ve identified is Brendan Rodgers. According to the Daily Star, United are ‘growing increasingly confident’ of being able to make the 48-year-old their new manager.

Apparently, United are keen to appoint a British manager, with officials believing that Rodgers would be keen on taking on the job at the Theatre of Dreams.

The Northern Irishman would be reluctant to leave the King Power Stadium, which is understandable given the excellent work he’s done there. It’s added Rodgers would find it almost impossible to turn the United job down.

Although Leicester would do their utmost to try and keep Rodgers at their club, it’s believed the gaffer has a release clause in his contract, should a Champions League club come calling. As of right now, United fit that bill.

Personally, I’d love to see Rodgers take the United job. In terms of fit, I reckon he’s nigh-on perfect. He loves developing youth, finds gems in the transfer market and improves pretty much every player who works under him.

I understand that he has Liverpool ties, but Rodgers has won trophies since that time. He’s now in a better place than ever to return to the big stage. What better place to do that than the greatest club in the world?

Would hiring Brendan Rodgers be a step in the right direction? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
