Man United are closing in on the signature of talented Crystal Palace winger, Samuel Lusale.

Manchester United have always enjoyed more success when investing in youth and giving them opportunities to flourish at the highest level. The Red Devils have struggled when splashing the cash on marquee signings – presumably due to the instant pressure these guys face.

It’s why I hope Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS place real faith (and money) in teenagers who are developing and growing into players with genuine ability to go right to the top.

The latest story from the Manchester Evening News leads me to believe that this is an area of the market the club are looking to regularly tap into. They believe a deal is edging closer for the signature of Samuel Lusale.

According to the MEN, United are close to signing the 16-year-old winger from fellow Premier League side, Crystal Palace, as the Reds continue to invest in youth.

Lusale age 16, played a few games for Slovakia at the U17 European Championship in May, while he was in Palace’s FA Youth Cup squad last season. However, United are now trying to acquire him.

Lusale is represented by Jay-Z’s Roc Nation, who are emerging as major players in the agency game.

It’s always tough to gauge exactly how quickly young players will develop, though Lusale already has experience aplenty under his belt for a 16-year-old. You’d also like to think his development will only speed up by playing with a better quality of player, assuming he does make the move to the Theatre of Dreams.

What’s best about these deals is that they’re always low-risk with high reward potential. Lusale may fizzle out into a player that isn’t good enough for the pinnacle of the sport, though he could also turn into something spectacular. In our opinion, it’s well worth the gamble.

Do you think a Man United move to sign Samuel Lusale would make sense? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
