Man United are showing some interest in Milan midfielder, Franck Kessie.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wanted to sign a new midfielder this summer, though there was only so much money available at the Baby Faced Assassin’s disposal.
Sadly, that was probably the only position during which Manchester United missed out on signing someone. It’s obviously a priority heading into next summer, then.
Declan Rice’s name is the one that pops up most often, while Kalvin Phillips was linked with an Old Trafford switch earlier today.
Now, 90min.com throw another name into the mix’ Franck Kessie. The AC Milan midfielder is emerging as a potential top-drawer player, with many clubs now circling for his signature.
Apparently, United are amongst the clubs being ‘kept aware’ of the 24-year-old’s transfer situation. Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham, Arsenal and Everton are also named as potential suitors.
Where this gets interesting is that Kessie is a potential free agent next summer, while his representatives are confident that a number of clubs will make pre-contract offers in January.
The report claims that a move to England is high on the agenda of the Ivory Coast international, with United asking to be kept informed in regards to his next move.
This is exactly what United should be doing – even if they decide against a move in the end. It’s always best to be prepared, particularly when this emerging player could be signed on a free transfer.
Kessie would offer something different to the likes of Rice and Phillips, while he doesn’t come with the increased price due to the English premium.
Honestly, I love this idea. I’d even consider making a low-ball offer in the January transfer window. That way you’re minimising competition from other potential suitors.
