Major boost for United as top club ready to accept €60m offer for sensational striker – Sky Germany

Sporting CP are prepared to honour their gentleman’s agreement made with Viktor Gyokeres, as per reports.

In recent days, a lot of fuss has been made about Gyokeres’ price tag amid concrete interest from Manchester United and Arsenal in his services.

The Sweden international believes his camp has a gentleman’s agreement with Sporting to leave the Lisbon-based outfit for around €60 million.

However, the Portuguese giants’ president Frederico Varandas has insisted no such agreement exists and Sporting have only agreed not to demand his full release clause.

He has a €100m release clause in his contract but the Lions are expected to demand €80m for their star striker.

This tension has not only left his suitors in dilemma but has also reportedly irked Gyokeres. Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming the Sweden international has told Sporting he will not play for them again.

Now, Sky Sport Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg has provided an interesting update on Sporting’s stance, seemingly ignoring all the recent drama.

Plettenberg claims Sporting have given Gyokeres “the assurance that he will be allowed to leave in the summer for €60–70 million.”

He underlines that the figure has been confirmed by the 27-year-old’s agent, Hasan Cetinkaya.

Given the fact that Sporting president has publicly underlined he would not be blackmailed into accepting a low fee, it is very difficult to see the club change their stance in a matter of hours.

However, Cetinkaya remains bullish. According to Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet (via the Manchester Evening News), the agent has revealed that he has proof of the alleged agreement that he made with Sporting.

The next few days should be very interesting in this saga as top clubs line up to sign Europe’s hottest striker.
