Facundo Pellistri impresses

Facundo Pellistri could have a big role coming up for Manchester United, with question marks being raised over wingers Jadon Sancho and Antony.

So it was important for him to get some game time as a starter under his belt for Uruguay, having been restricted to substitute appearances so far this season.

He created one chance, had two shots on goal, and won the ball back four times for his side, with Federico Valverde and Nicolas de la Cruz (2) scoring the goals.

Luis Suarez praise

Pellistri’s performance caught the eye of Manchester United hate figure Luis Suarez, his now former international teammate.

The two previously played in the same international team, but now Suarez has been cast aside as Bielsa gets ruthless.

Suarez has no hard feelings towards Pellistri, and nor should he. He sent a message to the Manchester United youngster on Instagram, congratulating him on his performance.

Pellistri and Uruguay are next in action on Tuesday night away at Ecuador, looking to build on their opening win.

Then he will head back to Manchester, potentially featuring in United’s clash with Brighton next Saturday.
