Long-term United target “up for sale” due to crisis at European giants, deal could be agreed for only €25m – report

Manchester United could be handed a big discount on their long-term target Brian Brobbey, as per reports.

Former United boss Erik ten Hag signed multiple Ajax players during his time at the helm at Old Trafford. However, not every pursuit was a success.

Ten Hag wanted to reunite with Brobbey as well but Ajax managed to keep hold of their highly-rated forward.

Earlier this season, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming United were eyeing a move for the Netherlands international despite signing Joshua Zirkzee.

Now, a report suggests Ajax are prepared to open the exit doors for Brobbey this summer.

According to SoccerNews (vía Fichajes), Ajax are considering Brobbey’s exit as they are going through a “difficult financial period.”

The 23-year-old is tied to the Amsterdam outfit until 2027 but their financial predicament has forced them to make “difficult decisions” ahead of the summer transfer window.

It is claimed that the Eredivisie leaders would be willing to sanction the Dutch forward’s exit if they receive an offer in the region of €25 million.

Brobbey has established himself as one of Francesco Farioli’s most reliable players, having scored seven goals and registered five assists in 38 appearances across all competitions.

The Ajax academy product is highly rated at the club and it is underlined that under “normal circumstances” his exit would not be considered by the hierarchy. However, at this point, Ajax’s priority is to balance their books.

With Ten Hag no longer in charge, it remains unclear if United would attempt to take advantage of the situation at Ajax.

However, one thing is certain, the Red Devils are in desperate need of a new striker with both Rasmus Hojlund and Zirkzee struggling to score frequently. In that regard, Ineos could do a lot worse than try to sign Brobbey for peanuts.
