Antonio Cruz These significant changes mean that the club has had to say goodbye to some faces who have been associated with the Red Devils for a long time. The Sun report that, “a Manchester United scout has left the club after 18 years.” The article goes on to state that, “Antonio Cruz is the latest to depart United’s once-bloated scouting network as the club continues to invest in AI data to aid their recruitment.” Cruz took to LinkedIn to comment on his time at Old Trafford, posting, “after 18 years at Manchester United as an International Scout, the time has come for me to close this important chapter of my career. Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey.” Cruz’s main roles were being responsible for scouting for the first team in Spain and Portugal. He also collaborated with the first team’s analysts when United have faced Portuguese teams over the years. The scout joined in 2007, the year United brought Nani and Anderson from Sporting CP and FC Porto. He was also responsible for the area when United signed Bebe, Diogo Dalot and by far his biggest success, Bruno Fernandes.
