Liverpool tipped to complete Erling Haaland transfer ahead of Manchester United and Man City – Manchester Evening News

Liverpool have been told to make a move for Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland.

Haaland continues to be linked with a move to Manchester United and Man City ahead of the summer, with it widely expected that the Norway superstar will depart Dortmund.

It is being reported that Haaland — who was subject to intense interest from a number of Premier League clubs last summer — will be available for around £68m in the summer of 2022 because a release clause in his contract kicks in.

Haaland is one of the top strikers in European football, enhancing his reputation in front of goal at Dortmund with 13 goals already in 10 games this season.

The 21 year-old, who has scored 70 goals in 69 games in all for Dortmund, was tipped to sign for United before he moved to the Bundesliga last year and City have since been linked with a move for the player as they continue to search for a top class centre-forward.

Former Liverpool and City midfielder Steve McManaman thinks Jurgen Klopp’s side should move for Haaland if they can make a deal work financially instead of signing an unproven young player.

“If Liverpool have the money then they’re better off going for Haaland because he’s already proven and it will be worth it in the long run,” McManaman told HorseRacing.net.

“Some young players play well over a short period and then all of a sudden they’re worth £50m, when their true value is £15m. It’s the selling club trying to make as much as possible out of a player.”

City would be a more realistic destination than United for Haaland, with Pep Guardiola’s side able to afford a deal and they are looking to sign a forward after missing out on Tottenham Hotspur captain Harry Kane in the summer.
