Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani continues to line up in red in the north west – although it could have been for a much different side than the Red Devils had a surprise summer move to Liverpool occured.
Cavani, 34, amassed 26 appearances last season as he became one of United’s main focal points.
Him and Bruno Fernandes were the main men, leading the side to a second-placed finish and an agonising defeat in the Europa League final.
The Red Devils subsequently signed Cristiano Ronaldo to help them trophies.
And that has meant a drop in playing time for Cavani, who has only featured in half of United’s Premier League games this season.

However, it could have been much different if a report from El Nacional is to be believed.
The article states that Jurgen Klopp was interested in signing the Uruguayan striker in the summer window for his gegenpress-laden Liverpool side.
Reportedly, Klopp monitored Cavani’s situation throughout the summer in the hope that he would become available for transfer.
However, in the end he signed a new contract and the rest is history.
The report further goes on the stated that Cavani actually wanted to leave Old Trafford until the end of the transfer window, although he couldn’t do so.
Barcelona are reportedly interested in the former Paris Saint-Germain striker, with new boss Xavi wanting to sign an out-and-out striker given Sergio Aguero’s hospital woes.
However, a deal looks extremely precarious.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer offered an injury update on the talisman after he missed the Manchester derby.

“We’ve had a couple of issues since Italy, Edi has been one of them,” Ole told MUTV before the game.
“Marcus was only clear this morning, he’s had a problem as well.
“But, luckily, he can be on the bench and, hopefully, come on if he needs to.”
