Lisandro Martinez has been better than anyone else at Copa America in one area, including Lionel Messi

Lisandro Martinez is back to his best this summer at the 2024 Copa America tournament and he’s been the best of everyone in one area.

Argentina are a national side of particular interest to Manchester United supporters, with two of the fanbase’s favourite players in the ranks for Lionel Scaloni.

Both Alejandro Garnacho and Lisandro Martinez are in the Argentinian squad which has kicked their tournament off with back-to-back wins.

Martinez has been a regular at centre-back alongside Spurs’ Cristian Romero. But for Garnacho not a single minute has been played although that looks to change in Argentina’s final group game as he’s in line to start according to Gaston Edul.

Now, Martinez has been revealed to be the competition’s best player at one thing.

Lisandro Martinez named best passer at Copa America so far

The 2024 Copa America is well underway and Argentina are looking good value to retain their crown and make it three major tournament wins on the bounce after a 2022 World Cup win.

While every player has shone brightly, for Manchester United fans, it’s Martinez who has stolen the show as he looks back to his very best in central defence after a season in which he suffered from injury problems.

Now according to WhoScored, he is actually the best passer at Copa America right now, completing 157 accurate passes which is more than any other player including the likes of Lionel Messi.

This of course is of no surprise to United supporters who know exactly how talented Martinez is on the ball.

Martinez set for a huge 2024/25 with United

After such a disappointing season for Martinez during 2023/24, he’s going to be hungry and desperate to bounce back next season.

After a few worrying moments when coming back from injuries only to be out immediately again, now he seems to be back to full fitness and is hopefully going to rid himself of injury-prone concerns.

Upon returning to Old Trafford, Martinez will hopefully have a brand new centre-back partner to play alongside such as Jarrad Branthwaite or Jean-Clair Todibo.

Whoever he’s alongside, it seems that United are keen to give Martinez a partner who is also excellent on the ball. However as we can see from his passing at Copa America, he’ll still be clear as the best passer.
