Lewis Hall seeks assurances from Newcastle as Man United wait to strike

Manchester United’s next focus in the market seems to be all about finding Luke Shaw’s long-term successor.

The 31-year-old started every Premier League game last season, but with United set to return to the Champions League next season, INEOS are wise to not trust the Englishman.

His poor injury record speaks for itself, which is why the Red Devils are searching for a young, Premier League-proven left-back.

Lewis Hall of Newcastle is the top target, but his asking price, and Chelsea’s interest makes things difficult for the 20-time English league champions.

Lewis Hall remains United’s dream target

The England international’s desire to play Champions League football has put United in the driver’s seat, with the 21-year-old open to a switch to Old Trafford.

With Eddie Howe leaving St James’ Park, Newcastle are in turmoil, and INEOS could take advantage by submitting their offer for the full-back.

Manchester United have made checks on Lewis Hall as they assess left-back options, as previously reported on @talkSPORT.

Not a new target, as Manchester United have been tracking the Newcastle left-back for some time, but no club-to-club contact yet.

However, journalist Ben Jacobs has revealed that Newcastle remain keen on keeping hold of the young defender and are pushing to agree a contract extension.

Lewis Hall is yet to put pen to paper on any fresh agreement and is waiting for new coach Matthias Jaissle to arrive so that he can seek assurances over his role moving forward.

Newcastle’s plan to stop United revealed

“Manchester United have made checks on Lewis Hall as they assess left-back options. Not a new target, as Manchester United have been tracking the Newcastle left-back for some time, but no club-to-club contact yet.

“Newcastle would still like Hall to sign fresh terms, while the player will seek clarity over his role under new manager Matthias Jaissle,” Jacobs wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Should things go south, United are ready to pounce, and it will be interesting to see how this story unfolds in the coming weeks.

The only reason a move for Lewis Hall has not happened thus far is because INEOS were prioritising the midfield, while simultaneously waiting for player sales to happen.

United cannot afford to dilly-dally

United will be well aware of the dangers of delaying for too long, as it would allow a rival to hijack the deal.

INEOS could save millions by unleashing academy graduate Harry Amass, however, there is talk of a possible sale even though a definitive decision is yet to be taken.

The Peoples Person Reliability AssessmentOverall credibility: 8/10Why?:white_check_mark: Reported by a journalist with a strong Manchester United track record.:white_check_mark: Multiple reliable outlets have talked about United’s interest in the player.:white_check_mark: The player would be a dream fit for United’s tactical demands.:warning: There have been multiple reports of the player wanting CL football, so a new contract makes very little senseTPP viewWe believe Manchester United’s interest is genuine, and Lewis Hall would love to move. This looks more like Newcastle briefing journalists rather than a concrete plan of action.
