Speculation doing the rounds in the English media on Monday suggests that Leicester City are ready to target Jesse Lingard as a potential replacement for James Maddison.
Gunners keen The future of Foxes star Maddison has of course taken centre stage in the media over recent weeks.
This comes with the English midfielder having been identified by Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta as a potential addition to the club’s midfield ranks.
On the back of a campaign which saw the Gunners often toil in their efforts to carve out goalscoring opportunities, Maddison has been earmarked as the ideal remedy.
To this point, however, the efforts of the board at the Emirates have proven to be in vain.
Despite a number of offers – including one featuring a pick of the club’s out-of-favour starlets – having been tabled for Leicester’s midfield conductor, Arsenal, to this point, have failed to meet the demands of their counterparts at the King Power Stadium.

Lingard eyed The latest reports surrounding the situation to have come to the fore on Monday, meanwhile, do not exactly make for encouraging reading for the Arsenal faithful, amid suggestions that the North Londoners are now ‘exploring cheaper options’ to Maddison.
This comes with Leicester refusing to budge on the club’s £60 million valuation of the former Norwich City standout.
As outlined above, though, despite a deal, as things stand, looking unlikely, the Foxes’ board have remained diligent in their search for potential replacements, if Arsenal ultimately opt to pay up.

And, according to the reliable Chris Wheatley of football.london, one option being taken into serious consideration by Brendan Rodgers and co. is Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard.
English international Lingard is of course fresh off the back of a scintillating half-season stint with West Ham, but has since returned to Old Trafford, to vie it out for a first-team berth.
Leicester, though, are ready to pounce in the case that United open up to a sale over the coming weeks.
Arsenal still someway apart from Leicester’s valuation of James Maddison.
Focus now is bringing in a back-up GK and creative midfielder, with #AFC also exploring cheaper JM alternatives.
