Bamford suffers injury scare Leeds United and FPL players suffered a potential selection headache ahead of the weekend showdown between Marcelo Bielsa’s side and Newcastle United, as Patrick Bamford flagged up a potential injury.

Overheard on the 606 football phone-in, Bamford was on to discuss his side’s defeat to Liverpool with Juliet Ferrington, and the interview consisted of analysing the game for the most part.

Just before answering the first question (around 9 mins 50 seconds in), though, Bamford can be heard saying:

“My hamstring is pinging”

This sent waves of worry throughout the Leeds fanbase, but it could well have been a false alarm.

Forward spotted in training video Fortunately for the Peacocks’ top goalscorer last campaign, Bamford was spotted running freely in a pre-match preparation video released the day before the encounter with Newcastle.

This will hand FPL owners and Leeds fans alike a massive boost, with Bamford a key part of Marcelo Bielsa’s side. With the Yorkshire outfit currently sitting on just two points from their opening four games, having conceded 11 goals in the process, Bamford’s goalscoring touch will certainly be required, should Leeds want to improve on their current form.

Defensive crisis for Leeds United At the other end of the pitch, however, Leeds could be plunged into a defensive crisis.

This comes as Pascal Struijk has seen his red card appeal rejected by the Premier League, leaving Marcelo Bielsa short of options at the heart of his backline.

Breaking – the Football Association has rejected Pascal Struijk’s appeal. Red card and three-match ban stands.

This leaves the Whites with just one fit and available senior central defender, Liam Cooper, having already lost Robin Koch and Diego Llorente to injury.
