Juan Mata laughs as Brandon Williams bodied Joe Hugill in Manchester United training

Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata was seen laughing after watching Brandon Williams bodied Joe Hugill during a challenge in pre-season training.

Man United will get their pre-season up and running on Sunday when they play visitors to Championship side, Derby County.

The Red Devils started their pre-season training two weeks ago and the footage Manchester United released proves the Reds have not been joking around.

Joe Hugill pressed forward through the right flank but Williams, who played as left-back, saw no other way to get the better of the promising forward than to body the teenager to the floor.

Juan Mata, who was among the players and coaching staff on the sidelines, was seen with smiles on his face as though he was impressed with the way Williams fought the ball off the Man United Under-19 forward.

Brandon Williams is known as a no-nonsense defender. His intensity and pace are a few of his qualities, though he has been linked with a loan move to Southampton.

United are demanding £2m for the defender but the Saints deem the asking fee too high and no advance talks have been reported yet.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed that some of his young players will go out on loan before the start of next season. Meaning Brandon Williams could finally leave the club in search of regular playing time.

‘We’ve got six weeks together before the league starts and a couple of training camps here in the UK,’ said Solskjaer, via the official Manchester United website.

‘Gradually, more and more players from the Euros will join in. They’ll [the youngsters] get a taste of some football. Then roundabout early August, some will go on loan.

‘We’ve [Man United] already lined up a few and some of them are still in discussions between us and the players about where is the best place to go.’

Miracle Nwoke

He is an immense fan of the club since 2005. Miracle wonders where Man United would have ranked in the Premier League history if Sir Alex Ferguson wasn’t given enough time to rebuild the team.
