Jose Mourinho ‘plots Manchester United raid’ as ex-England boss makes weird Solskjaer claim – Manchester Evening News

Welcome to theUnited On My Minddaily round-up, where we take a look at some of the best Manchester United stories which you might have missed.

Jose Mourinho is looking to take advantage of the mess at United by prising one of their players away, while a former England boss has had his say on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s struggles.

And finally, Nemanja Matic has revealed who he believes is the best dribbler at United – and it’s not Cristiano Ronaldo!

Mourinho plots United raid

Things turned sour for Mourinho at United. Very sour indeed. However, some fans believe he could work wonders with United’s current crop of players.

It seems like the Roma boss may have been listening to the aforementioned fans because reports suggest he’s interested in signing one of United’s defenders.

According to Italian outlet Gazzetta, Roma want to thrash out a loan deal for Diogo Dalot with the inclusion of an option to buy. This would leave United very short of options at right-back, though it wouldn’t be a surprise to see them agree to the move given Dalot’s struggles when he has played.

United have been previously linked with the signing of Kieran Trippier and they may reignite their interest if Dalot can be moved on.

Allardyce speaks out on Solskjaer

It’s not often someone’s hair is used as an indication of how well they’re performing at their job (or how badly they’re performing in this case) but Sam Allardyce has offered a rather odd way of explaining Solskjaer’s troubles.

As reported by The Sun, Allardyce has said: “You just have to look at his [Solskjaer’s] hair. Ole can only get through it with his staff and then by putting the players on the right track.

“Your staff need to be right on top of their game. We get all the criticism and all the praise as managers, but if you haven’t got the right staff… the success I had, I couldn’t have done it without my staff.

The former Premier League manager added: “My advice to Ole is I would shut everything down from the inside, which is almost an impossible task. But to focus internally and keep the outside influences away from everybody.

“Focus and really find a way out of it with your staff. Ole’s staff are never more important than they are now.”

I mean, it’s a bit of an odd way of putting it but he isn’t far off in fairness. Cheers, Sam!

Personally, I don’t see a way back for Solskjaer at United. I do take Allardyce’s point that Solskjaer has taken a lot of the criticism recently when his staff are just as much to blame, but I think it’s time for the club to make a change.

Matic hails Greenwood and Rashford

Despite the club’s current troubles, United’s squad is full of incredible talent.

With the likes of Ronaldo, Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes to name but a few, Matic has named who he believes to be the best dribblers at the club. And it’s none of the above!

Speaking as part of a Q&A session with the club’s official website, when asked who is the best dribbler at the club, Matic replied: “I would say probably our strikers – Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford. Yeah, maybe these two players.”

For those two players, brilliant news. But something tells me the main man Ronaldo won’t be too happy to discover he’s been overtaken by two young lads.

I can’t wait to see Ronaldo turn into prime Maradona trying to take on the entire Watford team the next time United play just to prove a point.
