Manchester United, one of the top football clubs, is facing hard times. Under Erik ten Hag, they have struggled and are now eighth in the Premier League. Yet, they will play Manchester City in the FA Cup final.

Erik ten Hag’s future with The Red Devils is doubtful. If the Manchester United owners choose to sack him, as many reporters talk about, his likely replacement could be Thomas Frank, the Brentford coach.

The Telegraph says Thomas Frank is a top pick to manage Manchester United. This could happen if Erik ten Hag is let go due to poor results. The club hasn’t yet made a call on Ten Hag. He still has a shot to win the FA Cup this year.

However, if a new appointment is made, Thomas Frank seems to have admirers at Old Trafford for his job over the past six years with Brentford. The Danish coach shares an existing connection with INEOS, the co-owners of Manchester United. Frank has ties with Sir Dave Brailsford, INEOS’ sport chief.

He has been at grand events with grand names like Sir Alex Ferguson, Arsene Wenger, Roy Hodgson along with Chelsea’s boss Mauricio Pochettino. Thomas Frank led Brentford to the top half of the EPL and kept them there, finishing ninth last season.

His work at Brentford has impressed the senior executives at Old Trafford. It is believed that Frank would fit into United’s new structure following the takeover of football operations by INEOS owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Erik ten Hag is facing pressure with United’s low spot in the Premier League. The team faces its worst finish since Sir Alex Ferguson left. United needs a new long-term boss to rebuild the squad.

Gareth Southgate is a possible pick, he says he is focused on leading England at the Euros. This summer will be busy for coaches, with Thomas Tuchel quitting Bayern Munich and Graham Potter looking for a new job after Chelsea sacked him.

Although Erik ten Hag may still be at Manchester United, Thomas Frank presents a strong case to replace him. His top-quality work at Brentford and already established relationship with the Manchester United co-owners make him a fit for the position. But then again, the final decision lies with the club’s management.
