Insight into Newcastle boss Eddie Howe’s January transfer plans

An insight into the plans of Newcastle boss, Eddie Howe, for the January window has been provided recently.

Howe’s huge Newcastle task After several weeks of searching, Newcastle finally announced the signing of a new permanent manager.

Former Bournemouth man Eddie Howe was named as the club’s new head coach on Monday, November 8th:

We are delighted to confirm the appointment of Eddie Howe as the club’s new head coach.

Welcome to Newcastle United, Eddie! ⚫️⚪️

Howe joins the club facing the mammoth task of keeping the North East outfit in the top-flight.

And at present, that seems pretty unlikely after 11 games of the campaign. Newcastle would once again fail to pick up a win this past weekend, instead drawing with Brighton.

Whilst that results in of itself is not terrible, it is worth remembering that Newcastle are yet to win a single game this season. And after Norwich saw off Brentford on Saturday, the Magpies are now the only side in the division yet to pick up a win this term.

Newcastle also have one of the worst defences in the Premier League at present, conceding 24 in 11 – only Norwich (26) have shipped more goals.

Howe’s January plans So, it is fair to say that the January transfer window is going to be a huge one for Newcastle and their attempts at survival.

And now, an insight into Howe’s January plans have been provided, with the Englishman seemingly eyeing up moves in the loan market.

As per the Daily Star:

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe is expected to use his “expertise” in the loan market to make crucial signings.

It is not just loans, however, which Howe will be looking to agree, as the DS also report that Howe will be given £50m to spend in the window.
