Injury-cursed United academy star in line for sensational return to first-team action – report

Manchester United loanee Dan Gore will return to action for Rotherham United this month according to new manager, Matt Hamshaw.

Gore has endured a torrid last two years on loan as he only managed one game on loan at Port Vale last season before injury ruined his campaign.

He started this season in United’s academy but secured a winter move to Rotherham where he grabbed an assist on his debut versus Birmingham City.

The 20-year-old midfieldder sadly picked up a foot injury shortly after and to date, has only played one match for his new side.

Former Rotherham manager, Steve Evans, claimed that Gore would make a return to first team action later this month but he was sacked just under a week ago.

The United academy star will now have the uphill task of impressing a new boss in what has already been an incredibly challenging loan spell.

What may work in the youngster’s favour is that Rotherham currently sit 15th in the League One table, with no threat of relegation or hope of promotion, so the new boss may be inclined to experiment with his squad and give the talented youngster a go.

Speaking after his debut win versus Northampton Town, the new manager Hamshaw claimed that he will be pleased to welcome Gore back into the squad and that he expects him to be available soon.

The Yorkshire Post carry comments from the new coach stating, “Dan is doing rehab at Man United at the minute.”

“He should be coming back within the next week and a half to two weeks. However, he will have had only two or three days on the grass. After about 60/70 minutes on Tuesday, I had no midfield options. I had striker options and that was it.”

This suggests that Gore may have a chance right away to impress if The Millers are struggling to find fit midfielders in their squad.

The news suggests that Gore might be in line to return versus Mansfield Town on Good Friday or Easter Monday, away to Wigan Athletic.
