Manchester United reportedly intend to hand Ruben Amorim two goalkeepers this summer.
For the better part of Amorim’s early days at the helm at Old Trafford, United’s toothless attack has been the most frequent cause of headache.
However, in recent weeks, the club’s goalkeeping department has come under the spotlight, owing to several howlers from Andre Onana.
The United number one’s poor positioning against Nottingham Forest early this month gave Anthony Elanga a very easy opportunity to score the winner. Most recently, Onana was at fault for both of Olympique Lyonnais’ goals in the Europa League.
Over the weekend, Amorim placed his trust in Altay Bayındır. The Turkish goalkeeper also looked shaky, conceding four goals to Newcastle United in yet another embarrassing defeat.
A report suggests INEOS are planning to completely overhaul the position ahead of next season.
According to Talksport, United want to sign two goalkeepers this summer.
Bayındır has been linked with a move away from the club due to lack of minutes, but United’s ambitious plans have also led to uncertainty over Onana’s future at the club.
The ex-Inter Milan shot-stopper is tied to Old Trafford until 2028 but he is unlikely to sit on the bench, which could be the case if United decide to invest heavily on reinforcing their goalkeeping options.
The Cameroon international has attracted interest from Saudi Arabia. Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming United are open to parting ways with him for only £20 million.
Meanwhile, Talksport suggests Aaron Ramsdale is among the names on United’s list of goalkeeping targets. The England international is expected to leave Southampton following their relegation to the Championship.
The Mancunians have reportedly also shown interest in Angers goalkeeper Yahia Fofana.
