Manchester United’s disastrous form in the Premier League is proof that the players assembled are not fit to play Ruben Amorim’s style of football, and changes are needed in the summer.
United have won a mere six games since the Portuguese took charge, with only the three relegated teams winning fewer games in that timespan.
INEOS are expected to be ruthless and as already relayed by The Peoples Person, not even recent recruits are safe from the planned cull.
Manuel Ugarte, Joshua Zirkzee and Matthijs de Ligt were all signed by the co-owners for former manager Erik ten Hag and the Red Devils are reportedly ready to cut their losses after only one season.
Fire sale planned
Obvious candidates like loan stars — Marcus Rashford and Antony are expected to depart while even academy graduates like
Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo could find themselves being pushed out if sizeable bids arrive.
The Daily Star have revealed that INEOS consider only four players to be safe from the planned firesale and while three names make sense, one of them is a surprise inclusion.
“United bosses, including co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, are willing to sell most members of the squad provided the price is right. United are desperate to meet financial spending rules, as well as provide Amorim with funds to make new signings.
“It’s understood the only players immune from the fire sale are Bruno Fernandes, Harry Maguire, Amad Diallo and Patrick Dorgu.”
The skipper has been the standout performer is what has been a dismal season, netting 19 times while registering 18 assists across all competitions.
There has been talk of a mega bid from Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal but the 20-time English league champions will not let their captain leave for any amount.
Quartet safe
Amad has been another standout attacking force this season, becoming a bonafide first-team superstar under Amorim. He scored immediately upon his return from injury and now has 10 goals and eight assists this term.
Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu arrived only in January so it makes little sense to discard him after less than six months.
The surprising name is that of Maguire, who was close to an exit in the last two summer windows. But he seems to have won over Amorim and recently signed a one-year contract extension.
There are even talks of offering him a longer deal in the summer and it will represent quite the turnaround in the centre-back’s club fortunes.
Hopefully, Europa League success can be attained and INEOS will not have to move on too many fan favourite players in the summer. Qualifying for the Champions League should offer enough of a financial incentive to the summer transfer war chest.
