Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has conducted his pre-match press conference ahead of Manchester United’s clash with Aston Villa.
Ahead of the game, Solskjaer spoke to the press and the briefing was streamed at 1.30pm on United’s official app.
He was asked about Edinson Cavani’s injury and also gave a separate interview to the club website about the Uruguayan as well.
Cavani is yet to start a game this season and was again absent when United crashed out of the EFL Cup on Wednesday night.
“Edinson has joined in training fully after that game [on Wednesday] and he’s held his hand up and is ready,” Solskjaer said.
“Last season as well, he didn’t have a pre-season when he came here. He’s so professional and meticulous and, of course, we’re glad to now have him back training with us and in the squad.”
“He is in the squad tomorrow. He’s been training and now he feels ready to contribute.
“He came on against Wolves then got a slight strain in the international break when we had a game there. He’s worked really hard and diligently as he always does and hopefully he’ll have the impact he had last season.”
Anthony Martial’s lacklustre display on Wednesday night underlined the importance of Cavani.
He of course has to navigate his way around Cristiano Ronaldo in the United frontline now.
Ronaldo will expect to start every Premier League game through the middle, and perhaps Cavani will be used off the bench at Villa.
Solskjaer did say elsewhere in the press conference that he’s excited to see the pair play together and that they can ‘work well together’ in attack.
