‘In talks’ – former Man Utd star receives ‘proposals’ from two clubs ahead of ‘possible’ free transfer move this summer

Manchester United legend David de Gea has caught the eye of two clubs and is believed to be ‘evaluating the proposals’ he has received, according to stunning reports.

The 33-year-old former Manchester United and Spain shot-stopper has been without a club for a year after his exit from Old Trafford last summer.

David de Gea became a free agent on 1st July 2023 after talks over a new contract at United broke down, ending his 12-year stay at the Red Devils.

The United legend lifted a Premier League title under Sir Alex Ferguson before the legendary former Red Devils boss called it time on his career in 2013.

De Gea made a whopping 545 appearances during his 12 seasons at Old Trafford and lifted a Europa League, two League Cups and an FA Cup.

The former United No 1 won the club’s Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award four times and picked up two Premier League Golden Gloves in his storied career.

De Gea linked with two clubs

David de Gea has patiently sat on the sidelines after his departure from Manchester United, despite the Spaniard attracting interest from around the world.

The ex-Spain international was previously linked with Saudi Arabia, while De Gea was also tipped to return to his native homeland amid interest from different clubs.

De Gea has kept himself busy in his post-United career, including regularly sharing training footage on social media amid a potential return to club football.

Journalist Rudy Galetti on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, has now claimed that Saudi Arabian clubs have reignited their interest in De Gea.

According to Rudy Galetti’s tweet, Al Shabab and another unnamed Saudi Pro League side are ‘in talks’ with the former United star over a move to Saudi Arabia.

It is believed that De Gea is now ‘evaluating the proposals received’ ahead of making a decision on whether or not to sign for a Saudi Pro League side.

Celtic legend wants De Gea in Scotland

Peter Grant, who played for Celtic in the 1980s and 1990s, claimed De Gea could be tempted with a move to Scotland if his side offered him Champions League football.

Celtic are on the hunt for a new shot-stopper in the summer transfer window after former Manchester City star Joe Hart retired at the end of the season.

“I’ve got the throw one out there,” Peter Grant told Go Radio Football Show in June.

“I look at David de Gea, he’s been training non-league in England. And I’m thinking, ‘There’s someone like David de Gea, a club like Celtic, European football. Would that excite him?’

“Okay, it will cost you a few shillings. But if he’s not going to the likes of Saudi Arabia, because no doubt that’s where he’d get the most money.

“But if he’s taken a year out and all of a sudden wants to get back – big nights at Celtic Park, eight Champions League matches. Would that be something that excites him?

“But that’s somebody I’d be looking at. That’s the sort of personality you’re probably going to have to replace Joe Hart with.”
