“I would expect him to be sold!”: Andy Mitten drops huge update on 22-yo United star after exceptional season

Respected journalist Andy Mitten has provided a huge update on the future of Manchester United goalkeeper Radek Vitek ahead of the summer window. Successful loan stint Vitek enjoyed a superb 2025/26 season on loan at Bristol City after joining the club last summer from United. He was initially signed as a backup to Max O’Leary, who had sustained an injury. Vitek hit the ground running at Bristol, impressing with a series of performances that saw him keep his place in the starting XI even after O’Leary’s return from the sidelines. Vitek quickly won over the fans at Ashton Gate, where chants of his name became a regular occurrence. The 22-year-old made 41 Championship appearances for Bristol, keeping 12 clean sheets in that period. A report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that the Czech Republic youth international is someone Bristol City are keen to keep hold of. The report claimed that the Robins consider a permanent deal for Vitek their top priority. He is also attracting interest from Premier League newcomers Coventry City. Vitek has previously made it clear that his desire is to break through at United and battle Senne Lammens for a starting berth. However, if Mitten’s update is anything to go by, he may not get the chance to do so. Vitek update Speaking on the United We Stand YouTube channel, Mitten revealed that there is a chance United will dip into the market for a goalkeeper this summer. He said, “Also, an experienced goalkeeper to back up, help and assist Senne Lammens.” “And people will say, ‘What about Radek [Vitek] who’s been at Bristol City?’ I would expect him to be sold.” “But I might be wrong there…I speak to lots of different people, don’t I?” United are looking to offload Andre Onana, while Altay Bayindir is also likely to leave amidst interest from the Turkish Super Lig. Veteran goalkeeper Tom Heaton is in line for a new contract to extend his stay at the club.
