“I feel like I’m…”: Incredibly talented United youngster sends clear message to Amorim about his future as PL clubs circle

Manchester United starlet Jacob Devaney has sent a clear message to Ruben Amorim regarding how he feels about his future and progress at the club. Devaney catching the eye Devaney has emerged as one of the best talents currently in United’s famed academy. Having joined United since the age of six, he has come up through the ranks to now being a regular with the Under-21s. He is the captain of the team. Devaney made his debut for United Under-18s in April 2023 at just 15. He was part of the side that won a historic treble during the 2023/24 campaign. He made 22 appearances out of a possible 24 that term – more than any other player during the season. A versatile player who can also be deployed in defence, Devaney has trained with the United first team, with Amorim seemingly aware of his attributes and sky-high potential. Last month, a report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that the 18-year-old is attracting interest from Premier League clubs. Devaney spoke to the Irish Independent and opened up on his ambitions. He expressed a clear desire to become a mainstay at United. The youngster also declared that he feels ready for first-team football, whether that is at Old Trafford or somewhere else. Devaney speaks Devaney told the news outlet, “There have been some top Irish players at United in its history, so hopefully I can be one of the next. I think [my dreams are] to get into United’s first team, win trophies with them, Premier Leagues, Champions Leagues and also to play for Ireland’s senior team.” “Those values are drilled into us from a young age, you understand not to take it for granted. Being at the biggest club in the world, they attract some of the best players in the world, so you’ve really got to keep your feet on the ground. You are never too far away from the first team, that’s one thing they say to us, so it’s just to keep going. I’ve loved being there.” He added about training with the senior squad, “Once you get the first session out of the way, then it’s down to you to try to get the shirt off the lads in the first team.” “You’ve got to go in there and just work as hard as you can and hopefully you’ll get your chance. You have to just keep cool. Maybe every now and again you might have a look [and take in the experience], but you really just have to stay focused on yourself.” Devaney singled out Bruno Fernandes as an experienced professional he particularly admires, branding the Portugal international “one of the best midfielders in the world.” He further stated, “I feel like I’m ready to play men’s football. Whether that be at United, hopefully. That’s what I’ve dreamt of since I signed at six, but I feel like I’m ready to make that step.” For now, Devaney will be desperate to keep working hard and ensure he seizes his opportunity the moment it arrives.
