Huge injury update provided on United trio ahead of Saturday’s clash with Everton – report

A major update has been provided on the Manchester United midfield trio of Kobbie Mainoo, Toby Collyer and Manuel Ugarte.

On Saturday, it emerged that all three stars were set to miss the next day’s meeting with Tottenham Hotspur in North London.

Indeed, all three were not in the matchday squad, forcing Ruben Amorim to call up a number of youngsters including Sekou Kone, Jack Lee Moorhouse and Jack Fletcher.

None of the three academy midfielders was afforded minutes by Amorim, who started Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro as his pairing in the engine room.

It was stated that Mainoo’s injury was a little bit more serious than the setbacks suffered by Collyer and Ugarte.

A subsequent report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Mainoo is set to be sidelined for around six weeks.

Now, the Daily Mail have given an update on the three midfielders, indicating the nature of the injury picked up by Mainoo and how far along Collyer and Ugarte are in their recovery.

According to the newspaper, “Confidential can confirm that Mainoo has strained a calf muscle as he battles to be back in time for the start of March when United return to European action in the last 16 of the Europa League.”

“The injuries sustained by Manuel Ugarte and Toby Collyer last week are not thought to be as serious.”

While it’s not clear whether Ugarte and Collyer will be back in time for Saturday’s clash with Everton at Goodison Park, Amorim will be boosted by the returns of Christian Eriksen and Leny Yoro.

Eriksen and Yoro both missed the Tottenham game due to illness. After the final whistle, Amorim told reporters that he was hopeful the pair would be back very soon.

Everton vs. United kicks off at 12:30 GMT.
