Ex-Manchester United defender Paul Parker is keen for his former club to sign Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma before the transfer window shuts.
The Malian has had a strong start to the season but, even though he was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal earlier in the summer, no club has come in for him.
Parker believes Bissouma is the archetypal box to box midfielder and, considering he also has Premier League experience, he feels he would be the perfect fit to strengthen Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s midfield options:
“If Manchester United are going to make one or two signings before the end of the transfer window at least get one central midfield player. I think Yves Bissouma would be perfect, Get somebody who knows the Premier League, has played really well since he’s been in the Premier League, plays well in big games for his club when they have them coming up and Bissouma comes to mind.”
“He’s been doing it week in, week out. He knows the Premier League. He is athletic, good with the ball at his feet and he doesn’t seem to want to typecast himself as a defensive midfield player. He’s willing to go forward as well and become an attacking midfield player. He’s a midfield player from a previous generation when midfield players were called box-to-box. For example Bryan Robson, Roy Keane and Paul Ince.”
Bissouma is certainly a player that has been looked at by a number of teams. In addition to Arsenal, both Liverpool and Manchester City have been linked with the 24-year-old over the past year.
United, meanwhile, appear to be focusing their attentions on the likes of Rennes’ Eduardo Camavinga, Atletico Madrid’s Saul Niguez and Wolves Ruben Neves. Whether one of the trio will arrive ahead of Tuesday’s deadline, we shall have to wait and see.
