Helmets on the way home and in talks with Val

Valur could be getting even more team strength for the clash in the men’s Dominos basketball division after a two-week national game break that takes over this weekend.

National team player Hjálmar Stefánsson is on his way home from professionalism after playing with Aquimisa Carbajosa in the Spanish C-league this winter. Hjálmar is in the Icelandic national team that plays two games in Kosovo this February but then moves back to Iceland according to Vísir’s information.

Hjálmar played his whole career in this country with Haukur but has given his old club response and will therefore not return to Ásvellir.

As far as Vísir can tell, it is most likely that Hjálmar will join Valur’s ranks but he has been in talks with the club.

Hjálmar has played 16 games in the Spanish C-League this winter and averaged 6.1 points, 3 rebounds and 0, 75 assists.

Last season, this 25 year old striker scored 7.3 points and averaged 5.4 rebounds per game with Haukur . The season before that he scored 13, 5 points per game and took 7.5 rebounds.

According to what karfan.is reported in Yesterday, Valsmenn also signed a US player who will play with the team after the national game break. His name is Jordan Roland and he is 23 years old, and comes from American college football.

Valsmenn will meet Keflavík’s top team on the second night in their last game before the national game break, but they have had a difficult draw in the Dominos League and have six points, two points from the relegation zone.
