Rasmus Hojlund finally broke his goalscoring duck against Leicester City last Sunday after not scoring in the Premier League for 99 days.
After the ball went in, his face was etched with relief, especially considering the criticism he had faced in the last couple of months.
Pundits and former club legends have not taken it easy on him but one former United legend was recently seen offering his support to the Danish ace.
Right after the Arsenal game, legendary goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel was seen chatting with the 22-year-old just outside Old Trafford with one fan recording it and uploading the video on social media.

The former shot-stopper’s heartwarming gesture came amid a barrage of harsh words from pundits and it was nice to see the Great Dane standing up for one of his own.
Hojlund, speaking to reporters while on international duty, thanked the Treble winner for the support. Schmeichel, having won the lot during his time at the club, is uniquely placed to offer the right advice to the ex-Atalanta starlet.
“Peter helps me occasionally and listens to how I’m feeling – both when things are going well and when things are going badly. I wouldn’t call him a father figure, but he helps a lot because he’s been through it before.

“He knows what it means to play for Manchester United as a Dane. It’s nice to have someone to spar with on that front,” the United No 9 was quoted as saying.
The Denmark international also acknowledged the support from Christian Eriksen, a teammate both at club and country level, while also claiming he is ready to help his juniors like Patrick Dorgu and Chido Obi, who have recently stepped into the first team squad.
“It’s also a bit about finding your own path. Christian also helps me and the others, but if there are people who come and want a little help, I’m available, both for everyone here and Patrick and Chido.”
Rasmus on United project
Despite the poor season, both individually and collectively, Hojlund still feels the project at United is an exciting one and also mentioned that the Red Devils remain his favourite club.
He also proceeded to thank Erik ten Hag for bringing him to Manchester while also praising Ruben Amorim’s impact since stepping into the hot seat.
“I’m focused on the task with Ruben, because that project is incredibly exciting, but Erik was of course one of the reasons why I moved to Manchester United. He was doing something good and was a talented coach, but it didn’t work out, and that’s how it is.
“I’m still very happy to be at Manchester United. It’s the club I’ve always dreamed of playing for. And I’m really happy for Ruben. He’s a cool character and a cool person.”
United fans will be desperate to see Hojlund now get his act together on the pitch ahead of a crucial April month wherein the 20-time English league champions play huge games both in the league and in Europe.
