Gary Neville called out by WWE star Sheamus over ‘annoying’ comments

WWE superstar Sheamus has named former Manchester United defender Gary Neville as the footballer he’d most like to face-off against.

The Irish wrestler is a die-hard Liverpool supporter and wasn’t afraid to show his allegiances during this week’s Manchester tour event, entering the arena wearing the Liverpool jersey and declaring that Merseyside hosts the best city in the north west of England.

That meant that fans enjoyed watching his defeat, which was accompanied by him losing a bet with Manchester City defender Kyle Walker.

While that rivalry was well-documented at the event, Sheamus has admitted there is someone else that he dislikes more.

His comments came in a media junket event ahead of the Manchester leg of the tour, where MEN Sport was in attendance.

“Gary Neville, he’s not playing anymore, but Jesus, I can’t stand him,” he said when asked which footballer he’d like to face-off against.

“He looks like he’s chewing a mouthful of bees. I have to say, I probably dislike him more than I dislike Kyle Walker. We know that you’re Man United mate, we know you are, but he’s one of these people who gives his opinion but he can’t take anyone else’s opinion, thinking about it or agreeing with it.

“It’s either his way or the highway, he’s not open-minded. Even Carragher, he’s die-hard Liverpool, but he’s always open to opinions or suggestions.

“Neville, it’s just a one-way road with him and that’s what annoys me most about him. He can’t admit when he’s wrong and he’s wrong a lot. He wasn’t even the best player in the team, he’s a journeyman.”

Sheamus’ comments will bring back memories of Wayne Rooney’s infamous showdown with Wade Garrett during his Manchester United days.
