Galatasaray Interested In Man Utd Center-Back Raphael Varane

As cited by Turkish outlet Fanatik (via the Manchester Evening News), Galatasaray are interested in signing Manchester United centre-back Raphael Varane ahead of the summer transfer window.

Raphael Varane

The French defender joined United three years ago from Spanish club Real Madrid. His current contract with the English giants expires in the next few months, and he will be available as a free agent.

The club has decided not to extend the 31-year-old’s contract due to wage demands. Varane has struggled to replicate his form at Old Trafford in over 93 appearances.

The senior defender was in good form last year, but consistent injury issues have affected his form in the current season. The Red Devils would be looking for a young centre-back and hence, they won’t hesitate to let Varane leave this summer.

Fellow Frenchman Anthony Martial is also expected to leave the club in the upcoming months. Galatasaray are happy to help Varane and the player will also be looking at his options since he will be a free agent.

We hope that this move won’t act as a downward spiral for the former Madrid star and that he continues to perform at the highest level.

The fans will be disappointed as many expected him to solve United’s defensive problems that have been troubling the club for several years.

The Red Devils have placed their hopes on young centre-back Willy Kambwala, who has fared well alongside Harry Maguire in recent games.

We still expect Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s management to look for another player in the next transfer window as it would be risky to step into the next season with a shortage of defenders.

It remains to be seen which club is successful in snagging Vararne from Old Trafford. Other clubs will also enter this race since the Champions League-winning star defender is available for free.

His experience will be vital for any club, but they have to help the player work on his consistent injury problems. He still has a few more years of top-level football left in him.
