Frontrunners for Casemiro’s signature leave him in limbo after agreeing €60m deal – report

Casemiro faces an uncertain future at Manchester United heading into the final days of the winter transfer window, with long-term suitors Al-Nassr shifting their focus on signing Victor Boniface.

Ruben Amorim has seemingly pushed the veteran midfielder away from his first team plans, having left him as an unused substitute in six consecutive games across all competitions.

Casemiro is yet to play a single minute this year, with Amorim placing his trust in academy midfielder Toby Collyer instead.

All January, the Brazilian has been linked with a move to Al-Nassr, with reports claiming Cristiano Ronaldo is pushing his club to reunite him with his ex-Real Madrid and United teammate.

Earlier this week, the Manchester Evening News suggested that Anderson Talisca’s imminent exit from Al-Nassr will free up a foreign player spot, making Casemiro’s path to joining their ranks in the Saudi Pro League clear.

However, that situation has now changed swiftly, as Stefano Pioli’s side have made an ambitious move to strengthen their attack instead of midfield.

According to Florian Plettenberg, Al-Nassr have agreed a deal worth more than €60m with Bayer Leverkusen to sign Bonica “with immediate effect.”

The Nigerian striker has also agreed personal terms and has already passed his medical tests.

This development has once again filled the aforementioned foreign player slot at the club, leaving Casemiro in limbo.

Amid this uncertainty, AS Roma have emerged as the latest potential destination for the five-time Champions League-winning midfielder.

Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming the Serie A outfit are exploring the possibility of signing Casemiro on loan for the remainder of the season.

United prefer to part ways with him on a permanent basis but with Amorim not showing any signs of using the services of Erik ten Hag’s expensive signing, even a loan deal appears appealing as it would help INEOS trim the club’s wage bill.
