Fresh Transfer Twist After Man United Are Linked With Shock Swoop For £61M Rated Fernandes Replacement

BACK

Man United don’t hold a “concrete” interest in Barcelona attacking midfielder Fermin Lopez, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Catalan newspaper Sport had suggested that the Red Devils were lining up a sensational €70m (£61m) bid for the Spaniard but, speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano said:

“At the moment, I’m told that there is nothing concrete in it. Also, because, first point, Barcelona don’t want to sell Fermin Lopez.”

“Second point, any chance for Fermin Lopez to go this month is only in case the player goes to Barca, goes to the director Deco, the coach Hansi Flick and says, ‘I want to go, I want to leave’.”

Lopez has been linked with several Premier League teams

Sport claim that, in addition to the Red Devils, both Chelsea and Arsenal had considered making a bid for the 22-year-old earlier in the summer.

So far, though, Lopez has given no indication that he is prepared to leave the Camp Nou. He made 46 appearances last season, scoring 8 goals and providing 10 assists. He may feel that he is getting sufficient game with the La Liga champions.

Man United could be eyeing potential replacements for Fernandes

Some fans may be asking why another attacking midfielder is being linked with Ruben Amorim’s side. In recent days, it has been reported in Portugal that captain Bruno Fernandes is being courted by Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr.

The Man United captain has rejected a similar offer from another Saudi Pro League side, Al-Hilal, so you wouldn’t think that he’d be open to a new proposal from the Middle East.

Even so, the interest in Lopez could be a contingency plan if Fernandes has a change of heart and decides that he wants to move before the transfer window closes.
