A fresh insight into the future of Chelsea-linked Sevilla standout Jules Kounde has been forthcoming on Saturday afternoon.

Sevilla star eyed The summer transfer window of course saw French stopper Kounde hotly tipped for a move to west London.

Despite the embarrassment of riches at his disposal, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is understood to have identified Kounde, long highly regarded across the continent, as the missing piece from his Blues backline.

A lengthy saga, in turn, unfolded, as the respective boards at Chelsea and Sevilla went back and forth regarding the 22-year-old’s valuation.

In the end, however, those in a position of power at the latter stood firm.

Monchi and co. are said to have demanded that Kounde’s release clause – worth a sum in the region of €75 – 80 million, be coughed up, or a sale would not be forthcoming.

And Chelsea, as a result, were left with little choice but to abandon their efforts to lure the Frenchman to the English capital.

Summer sale? The months since, however, have seen speculation continue to swirl that the Blues could yet reignite their pursuit upon the opening of the January transfer window.

This comes with Tuchel and co. evidently of the opinion that Kounde would represent a sound long-term replacement for the likes of ageing duo Cesar Azpilicueta and Thiago Silva.

And, as outlined above, on Saturday, a fresh insight into the situation has been forthcoming.

In a blow to both Chelsea, and any other club with hopes of forcing Sevilla’s hand over Kounde in January, though, it has been all-but confirmed that the 22-year-old will not be on the move this winter.

As per a report from Spanish outlet Marca, those in a position of power in Andalusia are ‘calm’ ahead of the upcoming transfer window, in the knowledge that their star defender will be going nowhere.

This comes amid the suggestion that no club will be prepared to activate his release clause mid-season.

In more encouraging news for both Chelsea and fellow suitors Manchester United, however, it is added that Sevilla will be open to proposals next summer, with Kounde’s stance having remained clear – that he wants to seal a big-money move as soon as possible.
