Former United Europa League winner makes concrete decision on future with current club – report

Former Manchester United defender Matteo Darmian has made a crucial decision on his future.

Story with United

The Italian joined United in the summer of 2015 while Louis van Gaal was in charge of the side.

He played four seasons in England, but never really nailed down a starting spot for the Red Devils.

Darmian made 92 appearances, scoring one goal. He did manage to win the FA Cup, League cup and Europa League during his time at the club.

He joined Parma from United and then moved to Inter Milan on loan in 2020 and then permanently the following year.

Found a home at Inter

The 35 year old has had a career renaissance in his thirties in Milan as he has won two league titles and played in two Champions League finals.

He has been a regular in the Inter team over the last five seasons, making 209 appearances and scoring 13 goals.

Future settled

According to FcInterNews.it, Darmian’s future has now been settled.

The website reports that “the veteran Nerazzurri player (who still has one year left on his contract with Inter) is set to remain in Milan.”

It was thought that his position may be under threat due to the arrival of recent signings, in particular Luis Henrique.

The Italian side are also reportedly on the lookout for another defender this summer but this has not influenced Darmian’s decision.

The defender will fancy his chances of playing a significant amount of football again next year.

He played in 49 matches last season and with Inter aiming to go deep in both the cup and Champions League, there will be plenty of opportunities for the former Red Devil to shine.
