Fed up with Amorim, Mainoo has chosen his next club and United fans will be distraught – report

Saturday’s defeat to Brentford means Manchester United have now won only twice in six Premier League games this season, their worst start in 33 years.

His flawed system and refusal to adapt have irked many, while his reluctance to turn to youth to solve the team’s current problems has been baffling, to say the least.

Despite mistakes in almost all games, Altay Bayindir continues to start in goal, while new signing Senne Lammens keeps watching from the sidelines.

Leny Yoro also seems to have lost his place in the starting lineup, while the biggest surprise is the fact that Kobbie Mainoo is yet to start a league game this campaign.

Kobbie Mainoo struggles under Amorim

The Carrington graduate is having to compete with Bruno Fernandes for a place in the starting lineup, despite the obvious frailties in the defensive midfield position.

Casemiro cannot handle the intensity of games while Manuel Ugarte continues to struggle. The Englishman has excelled for both the Red Devils and England in that position, but Amorim just does not seem to rate him.

The Englishman got so frustrated that he pushed for a summer loan exit, but INEOS turned it down, asking the midfielder to work even harder to impress the head coach.

If things don’t improve, Kobbie Mainoo is expected to try to leave again in the winter, in a bid to keep his World Cup dreams alive.

As per The Daily Mail, the 20-year-old’s preference would be to move abroad, with Napoli his preferred option, given the success his former teammate Scott McTominay has enjoyed since his move there last year.

There is also interest from Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid, and it would be a huge disaster to lose him.

“It seems no United player would benefit more from a change of manager than Kobbie Mainoo.

Next club already picked?

The England midfielder’s United career has stalled under Amorim, causing Mainoo to request a loan move before the transfer deadline at the start of this month. The 20-year-old didn’t get his way and has been limited to three substitute appearances since.

“If Amorim keeps his job until January, it would be surprising if Mainoo didn’t make another attempt to leave his boyhood club. If so, keep an eye on Napoli and the two Madrid clubs.

“Confidential understands Napoli would have been Mainoo’s first choice if United had given him the green light to go. The Italian club wanted to sign him, and he was keen to link up with former United team-mates Scott McTominay and Rasmus Hojlund – as well as Manchester City favourite Kevin De Bruyne – in Naples.

“But there will be interest from a number of other top European clubs. Given more time to plan a move, don’t rule out Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid being among them.”

United fans will be distraught to see another academy youngster leave, and taste success elsewhere. Hopefully, Amorim and INEOS can finally see the light and trust Kobbie Mainoo more in the games to come.
