Father Of German Starlet Dubbed ‘The New Pogba’ Confirms PL Clubs Are “Very Interested” In The Player

BACK The father of Manchester United transfer target Assan Ouedraogo has revealed that Premier League clubs are “very interested” in signing the Schalke midfielder. Bayern Munich were favourites to sign the teenager but Alassane Ouedraogo says that the deal collapsed after the Bundesliga side decided against paying the requisite fee, leaving the door open for other teams to make a move: “We’re grateful and proud of the big interest in our boy. But we have a valid contract with Schalke 04 and will not make any hasty decisions. The next step is incredibly important for his personal and footballing development. The financial aspect is not decisive, but mainly the idea and trust of the future coach and the people in charge. We are continuing to work with Schalke 04 to find a good solution for the club and for Assan.” “Assan has Schalke in his heart, I can assure you of that. We’ve not yet made a commitment to any club. What we can confirm is that we have received several written offers – not only from Bayern. Many clubs, especially from the Premier League, have been very interested in Assan. There are teams from England who would like to sign Assan directly for their first team in the summer. We will make the right decision soon.” Which Premier League clubs are interested in Ouedraogo? Reports suggest that United, Liverpool, Aston Villa and Newcastle are the four Premier League teams looking to snap up the 18-year-old. The Schalke player is said to have a £12m release clause in his contract but it is claimed that it needs to be triggered by June 15th. That means the Red Devils only have two weeks to agree terms with the player and complete the deal, or he could end up costing a lot more. What do United fans need to know about Ouedraogo? The midfielder has been likened to former United star Paul Pogba by some in the media but it is still very early in his career to be making such comparisons. Ouedraogo has only made 17 senior appearances so far, scoring 3 goals and 2 assists. Last season, the midfielder did struggle with injuries, spending spells on the sidelines with hamstring, adductor and ankle problems. He is, though, a very talented player and United would be getting one of the most exciting young talents in Germany if they do secure his services.
