Fabrizio Romano provides detailed update on United’s pursuit of Randal Kolo Muani

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has weighed in on speculation that Paris Saint-Germain striker Randal Kolo Muani is a target for Manchester United.

Kolo Muani an option for United

United are still looking to bolster their attacking department this summer even after the additions of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo from Wolverhampton Wanderers and Brentford respectively. The club are now expected to turn their attention towards signing a top-class striker as part of this plan.

Heading into the summer transfer window, United’s list featured names like Victor Osimhen, Viktor Gyokeres and Liam Delap. Osimhen is on the brink of joining Galatasaray after spending last season on loan with the Turkish giants, while Gyokeres is also closing in on finalising a switch to Arsenal.

Meanwhile, Delap snubbed United’s advances in favour of moving to Chelsea.

The Red Devils have been forced to get creative in their striker hunt and one player who has popped up on their radar is Kolo Muani.

There were suggestions that United explored a deal for him during the January transfer window but it didn’t materialise.

Kolo Muani moved to Juventus on loan for the latter half of the 2024/25 campaign after struggling to get first-team minutes at PSG. He enjoyed a renaissance at Juventus, netting eight goals and providing one assist in 16 Serie A appearances.

Juventus are unsurprisingly keen on extending his stay in Turin but they are reluctant to meet PSG’s demands. PSG want a large sum to sanction a permanent sale, while Juventus’ preference is another loan deal.

A recent report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that United and Newcastle are making attempts to beat Juventus to the Frenchman’s signature.

There have also been claims that United are open to bidding for him.

Now, Romano has set the record straight.

Romano gives update on Kolo Muani to United

Romano wrote in his newsletter for GiveMeSport [via Manchester World], “I’m not aware of concrete talks as Juventus remain favourites now, but Manchester United could be offered this opportunity in case the Juve deal collapses.”

If United will indeed be presented with an opportunity to sign Kolo Muani, it will be interesting to see whether they take it up.

While things didn’t exactly work out at PSG, there is no doubt that he remains a top striker who can thrive under the right conditions.

His brief time at Juventus is evidence that he can be trusted to score goals for United and he would of course be an upgrade on the uninspiring Rasmus Hojlund.
