Fabrizio Romano gives huge update on United’s January pursuit of €75m talisman amid suggestions of ongoing talks

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Manchester United acre currently not in negotiations for Victor Osimhen despite suggestions he could be on the move in January.

Osimhen has been linked to United for the past few windows but needless to say, a switch to Old Trafford has never materialised.

The Red Devils are expected to be in the market for reinforcements in the striker position and Osimhen has emerged as a target yet again.

The Nigeria international joined Galatasaray on loan from Napoli during the summer after a late switch to Chelsea fell through, but the Serie A outfit are believed to have the option to recall him in January if they receive a permanent offer.

A previous report covered by The Peoples Person claimed that United are competing with Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain for Osimhen’s services. He is expected to cost around €75 million.

It was subsequently relayed that Napoli would be open to a swap deal, with Antonio Conte’s side thought to be admirers of Joshua Zirkzee, Rasmus Hojlund and wantaway forward Marcus Rashford.

Amidst speculation that United had established contact with Osimhen’s agent, Romano has now set the record straight and indicated that nothing concrete is in motion.

The Italian journalist wrote for GIVEMESPORT, “I’m not aware of concrete talks taking place, despite links with Man United.”

“The situation remains quiet at the moment; the only way to change it is triggering the clause into his Napoli contract (he’s on loan at Galatasaray) and also reaching an agreement on salary close to €11m net per season.”

“Not an easy one.”

Osimhen has netted 12 goals and provided five assists in 15 appearances across all competitions for Galatasaray. This tally includes five goal involvements in four Europa League appearances.

United return to action later today when they face Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux Stadium. Kick-off is at 17:30 GMT.
