Fabrizio Romano confirms big transfer news as 2 players ‘set to sign’ their Man United contracts today

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that both Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui are set to sign their Man United contracts today.

All had gone quiet on the transfer front over the last few weeks. We all just assumed it was due to the fact that Manchester United were in a situation where they have to sell before they can buy.

However, that may not be the case. Suddenly, the Old Trafford club have burst into life, pushing hard to sign both Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich.

Both players were pictured in Manchester last night as their transfers to the Theatre of Dreams draw ever closer. Now, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed some big transfer news, with the 2 players now ‘set to sign’ their United contracts later today.

By the time you’re reading this, the ink has probably already touched the paper, with United now drawing ever closer to announcing two major acquisitions.

A move for Mazraoui felt like a certainty, particularly after news that Aaron Wan-Bissaka is leaving came to light. The Moroccan has worked with Ten Hag previously, and he’s certainly a better stylistic fit for the way the Dutchman likes to play the game.

De Ligt’s addition is somewhat surprising. After Leny Yoro was acquired, I genuinely assumed the Old Trafford club would look to spend their money in other areas. However, I’m pleasantly surprised to see that this deal is going to be done. The Reds suddenly have brilliant quality in depth in the centre-back position, assuming everyone can stay fit.

Hopefully, both these deals are announced within the next 24 hours or so, as Ten Hag is no doubt hoping to have these guys available for the game against Fulham on Friday evening.
