Manchester United defender Will Fish has established himself as a regular on loan at Hibernian in recent weeks.
At the weekend he played all 90 minutes as the Scottish Premiership side earned a 4-1 away win over Livingston.
While Fish was not credited with an official assist, his passing was referenced as key to one of the goals, with manager Lee Johnson backing him.
He told the club website: “We’d worked a lot in the week about trying to get in-behind them. We had a few opportunities and turned them down, but the one Will Fish played early in-behind was excellent because you’re not catching Elie [Youan].”
Livingston had gone 1-0 up before Hibernian battled back to saunter to a 4-1 victory.
Fish, 20, has now made 10 appearances for his loan side, with seven starts. All of these starts have come in 2023.
United and the defender deserve credit for sticking with the loan, when it would have been easy to recall him at the start of January amid a lack of game time.
The centre-back has now racked up 613 minutes of playing time in a professional environment, and will be better for it, whatever his future holds.
Fish also has two goals to his name too, and is beginning to look comfortable, but his biggest test so far awaits shortly.
Hibs face Rangers in midweek before travelling to league leaders Celtic on March 18. This double header will give him a chance to underline his strong recent progress, or perhaps show there is plenty left to learn.
