Toffees tracking potential deal for Neal Maupay Everton boss Rafael Benítez has dipped his toes in the water on the south coast recently, with the Toffees being linked with surprise interest in Brighton’s Neal Maupay.
The Seagulls’ French center forward has begun the season in bright fashion at the Amex Community Stadium, hitting two goals in the club’s opening two fixtures of the new campaign.
BRIGHTON, ENGLAND – JUNE 20: Neal Maupay of Brighton and Hove Albion scores his team’s second goal past Emiliano Martinez of Arsenal during the Premier League match between Brighton & Hove Albion and Arsenal FC at American Express Community Stadium on June 20, 2020 in Brighton, England. But with Everton facing the possibility of key forward Richarlison being the subject of advances from Paris Saint-Germain should the club sell Kylian Mbappé before the end of the transfer window, Benítez would be left with Dominic Calvert-Lewin as the only recognized center-forward he is intent on keeping at Goodison Park.
While Maupay remains vital to Graham Potter’s plans, the chance to ply his trade for a club in the hunt for European football may be a difficult one to pass up.
Everton joins the race for midfielder Weston McKennie; face stiff competition. Despite a bright start in his inaugural season in Turin, American international midfielder Weston McKennie looks to be on his way out of Juventus this summer, with new boss Massimiliano Allegri said to be left unconvinced.
As a result, Everton has joined the fray to try to secure his services.

A versatile 8 who can also reliably be deployed as a 6, McKennie’s star has risen rapidly after his breakthrough in Gelsenkirchen at Schalke 04 and, when under Andrea Pirlo last term, the 22-year-old looked the part for Juventus.
A cadre of Premier League clubs are keen on bringing him to English shores, however, with Tottenham in the lead given Fabio Paratici’s presence as the man responsible for luring him away from the Bundesliga. Both Aston Villa and West Ham are also hot on the trail, so if Everton intend to steal a march on their league rivals amidst FFP concerns, they will have to move quickly, and could use James Rodríguez or Moise Kean as a makeweight in a potential deal.
Juve, for their part, are only prepared to listen to permanent offers, rather than any loan agreements.
Juventus still keen on Kean; loan deal is the only possibility Serie A giants Juventus have lodged interest in Italian international Moise Kean as the transfer window rapidly approaches its conclusion, according to Italian outlet SportMediaset.
Juve’s interest in Kean is not understood to be linked to the growing possibility that Cristiano Ronaldo is set to leave Turin this summer, and as of now, the Bianconeri is the only club linked with a move for the player.

Everton is open to allowing Kean to leave once again after he spent 2020-21 in the French capital in a credible stint with Paris Saint-Germain, but Juventus is only prepared to bring the player back to the club in a loan capacity.
A deal could certainly be in the works, amid Everton’s growing interest in midfielder Weston McKennie, who also looks primed for a move away from Turin after just a single season at the J Stadium.
