“Even stronger tonight”: United believe they are inches away from sensational transfer deal – Fabrizio Romano

Manchester United are reportedly growing more confident that they will beat Newcastle to the signature of Benjamin Sesko, the reliable Fabrizio Romano has confirmed.

United’s full attention is now on securing a striker for Ruben Amorim, with Sesko the leading candidate on their list.

The Red Devils’ interest in Sesko dates back to his time at RB Salzburg, but United have missed out on securing his signature on multiple occasions since then.

However, he now appears to be ready to take the next step in his career and a long-awaited switch to Old Trafford could finally happen. However, United are not alone in their pursuit of the Slovenian talent. Newcastle are also strongly pursuing him and have lodged two offers, the latest being a total package worth €90m.

Earlier on Tuesday, news broke that Ruben Amorim’s side had lodged an opening bid for Sesko.

It’s understood that the fee proposed by United is an initial £65m plus around £8.9m (€75m + €10m) in performance-related add-ons.

A recent report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Sesko already has an agreement over personal terms with both United and the Magpies.

There have been suggestions that Leipzig will allow Sesko to decide which of the two Premier League clubs he wants to join, and there is growing belief that he will opt for United. Romano has further intensified the speculation with a significant update on the situation.

The Italian journalist wrote on X, “Understand Manchester United’s feeling from earlier today is even stronger tonight…”

“…the club believes Benjamin Šeško only wants to join Manchester United.”

“Man United forwarded official contract proposal to Šeško while also keep negotiating with RB Leipzig.”

If all goes to plan and Sesko gives United the green light to proceed, then it is likely this deal will advance quickly, to ensure the 22-year-old completes the transfer as soon as possible, with the start of the new season just around the corner.
