Euro club would consider terminating current player’s loan to make room for £105k-a-week United star in Jan

In the event Joshua Zirkzee were allowed to leave Old Trafford in January, he’ll have his pick of suitors to spend the second half of the season with.

Indeed, the out-of-favour Manchester United star has attracted interest from a host of clubs in the build-up to the winter transfer window.

Most recently, West Ham have emerged as contenders to sign Zirkzee mid-season, with reports suggesting they are preparing a loan offer to send United’s way in the coming weeks.

AS Roma are also keeping a close eye on his situation from abroad, to the point they would even – according to talkSPORT – consider terminating Evan Ferguson’s loan prematurely to replace him with United’s No.11

Fabrizio Romano previously confirmed that Zirkzee had received a number of approaches from other Italian sides in the summer, meaning there’s a strong chance they’ll return in the New Year.

In regards to United’s stance, Ruben Amorim and INEOS chiefs share the same viewpoint in that they don’t want him to leave in January.

However, the fact that Zirkzee isn’t featuring almost at all could lead to them agreeing a temporary departure, so long as he returns to Amorim’s ranks in time for 2025/2026.

The Dutch international is said to be desperate to play so that he has a chance at featuring for his nation at next year’s World Cup, with his last Netherlands appearance coming all the way back in November 2024.

He has yet to start a Premier League fixture this term, and his lengthiest cameo came in the form of a 59-minute stint off the bench to replace injured teammate Matheus Cunha against Burnley in August.

Zirkzee, 24, subsequently featured for just 10 minutes in the Manchester derby and for five minutes in the closing stages of the defeat to Brentford. He has been an unused substitute for five matches, so it shouldn’t come as much of a shock to learn he’s contemplating where his future lies.
